Progress in the research regarding sensory ataxic neurapathy (SAN)
Sensory ataxic neuropathy (SAN) is a recently identifed neurological disorder in golden retrievers, with onset of clinical signs during puppy-hood. Males and females are affected at a similar frequency. Affected dogs display ataxia (incoordinated movements), especially in the pelvic limbs. They avoid walking across slippery floors and up and down the stairs.
